Dr. Alan Low
BioPro Biologics Pharmacy / UBC
Alan is the Founder and Pharmacy Lead at BioPro Biologics Pharmacy, a novel pharmacy practice with a patient-centric approach, collaborating with physicians and other health practitioners. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UBC, and the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Medicines Access Coalition – BC. In addition to his academic and community involvement, Alan also practices as a clinical pharmacist at Fraser Health Authority. His health care background spans multiple areas including hospital pharmacy, pharmaceutical industry, academia, research, patient advocacy and community pharmacy. His passion and skills in education is demonstrated in his teaching of Pharmacy Students as well as his involvement as a presenter at regional, national and international conferences. He was the co-developer of the elective course at UBC focusing on Dermatology and Topical Compounding which included the popular topic of cosmeceuticals. In addition to having authored many publications and studies, Alan is one of the co-authors of a self-management book called The Osteoporosis Book: Bone Health in its 4th Edition, is a co-founding Co-Editor of a textbook called Pharmacy Management in Canada and provides patient education videos with HealthChoicesFirst.com. A recent recipient of the Ben Gant Innovative Practice Award from the BC Pharmacy Association, he brings innovation to pharmaceutical care of patients and strives to develop solutions to close gaps in healthcare so that patients achieve optimal health outcomes and improved quality of life.
